VNU appoint Watson Phillips Norman for radio and outdoor push
VNU, one of the largest publishing houses in the world, has appointed DM agency Watson Phillips Norman to handle a new promotion for Computeractive magazine, its flagship UK title, using both radio and a national poster campaign.
Computeractive is the UK's biggest-selling consumer technology title with over 240,000 copy sales per fortnight. The brief is to support retail sales during March. The WPN strategy is to use 30' commercials on Talksport, Classic, Jazz, Virgin and the First radio network, reaching a quarter of all UK adults. In addition, a nationwide poster campaign includes railway stations and retail parks. The creative treatment focuses on “Selling on eBay” and “Digital Photography”, the special features of the next two issues.
“We're delighted to be working for VNU on this brief. It's different from conventional DM but we're approaching it with the same eye on 'return on investment' to drive new readers as well as to remind lapsed readers what they're missing,” said WPN Marketing Director John Eversley.
VNU are one of the world's biggest publishers, responsible for market leading titles such as Computing, IT Week, Financial Director, Accountancy Age and Personal Computer World.
Watson Phillips Norman (WPN) has now passed £6m in billings just 24 months after being started by former WWAV Rapp Collins Chief Executive John Watson, together with former WWAV Rapp Collins Creative Director Maria Phillips and Brand Planner Tod Norman.
