PDSA appoints Watson Phillips Norman to new DRTV push

Animal care charity PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) has appointed new DM agency Watson Phillips Norman to handle a new DRTV test aimed at improving the organisation's ability to recruit new supporters.

PDSA treats over 4,500 sick and injured pets every day for owners who cannot afford vets' fees and qualify for help. The £27 million annual cost of this veterinary work is entirely funded by contributions from individual supporters. PDSA has already used DRTV but is looking to investigate other ways of using the medium. PDSA Direct Marketing Manager, Clive Mollett, said: “We wanted to see if we could get more out of DRTV. The work that Maria Phillips and her colleagues have done in the past on DRTV is well-known and we decided we wanted to use the best people available. We're delighted to be working with them on this project.”

Maria Phillips, Creative Partner at Watson Phillips Norman, said: “We're excited at having this opportunity to work with PDSA. The work they do with animals is fantastic and I am sure we can make a significant difference to their fundraising on television.”

Maria will be working with art director Andy Todd on the project. Maria and Andy between them were responsible for the Cancer Research UK 'Mirrors' DRTV ad that was recently named by 'Campaign' magazine as one of the year's top 10 campaigns.

Watson Phillips Norman are working only on the DRTV project; the rest of the PDSA business is unaffected.
